An Uzbek resident has been charged at a Dubai court after she physically assaulted and verbally abused a police female officer.
According to the public prosecution records, the 27-year-old expatriate was drunk when she resisted the cop in public on March 15 in Al Barsha.
She faced charges of resisting and physically assaulting an on-duty police officer, verbally abusing her and consuming alcohol without a licence at the Court of First Instance.
A forensic report showed the officer was left with a right wrist bite, inflicted by the accused.
The complainant said she was on duty when the officer in-charge informed her about a woman driving under the influence of alcohol and not cooperating with the police. "I went to where that woman was. She had another woman with her in a car. One of them obeyed my order and got off the vehicle and went inside the police car. The other woman tried to escape and bit me while she resisted being detained."
The complaining officer was also insulted. But the accused was then brought under control, handcuffed and taken inside the patrol car. The defendant will be sentenced on June 3.
