Two Arab managers and an Asian company owner are on trial in Dubai Criminal Court on charges of offering Dh150,000 bribe to an accountant.
The defendants were accused by the public prosecution of trying to grease the palm of an accountant in an auditing company to make a fake report for the company owner.
The crime came to light after the accountant refused to accept the bribe and reported the matter to the police.
The bogus report was to be submitted in an ongoing real estate-related case, according to Al Bayan.
The prosecution said that the managers wrote a Dh150,000 cheque in the name of the company owner, who offered the accountant of the auditing company Dh50,000 as the first tranche or 'installment' of the bribe.
The accountant told his supervisor at the auditing firm about the incident and they reported it to Dubai Police, who then took legal action.
