Abu Dhabi Police arrested two Asian men carrying drugs, including pills and narcotic substances, amounting to a whopping 172 kilograms in the Capital.
The two men, whose identities and ages have not been given, were dubbed by police operations as the 'Poison of the Dark.'
The men were trafficking drugs in various parts of Abu Dhabi.
Colonel Taher Ghareeb Al Dhaheri, Director of the Abu Dhabi Police's Drug Control Department, said police received a tip-off that the suspects were carrying and promoting drugs in Al Ain.
Abu Dhabi Police formed a team of officers and conducted an operation plan to arrest the suspects and seize the drugs.
He explained that the seized possession of material included 172 kilograms of hashish, of which 80 kg was discovered in one of the emirates, while 92 kilograms of hashish, five kilograms of crystal and half a kilogram of opium were found in another area.
Police also found large sums of money in in US Dollars, Euros, Pounds and also Dh224,000 in cash.
Colonel Al Dhaheri said Abu Dhabi Police will continue their efforts to detect criminal activities, catch criminals who attempt to traffic or smuggle drugs and protect the community from offenders, particularly those who promote drugs and harmful substances among youth in the country.
The case has been referred to the public prosecution.
