Seven Asians, including a woman, were arrested for murdering a woman by strangling her, at her home in Abu Dhabi.
Brigadier Amir Al Muhairi, deputy director general of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, said that investigations revealed the arrested woman and the victim had lived together in the house, and the two were friends. It turned out that the female perpetrator had called the men from another emirate, with the intention of stealing from and killing the victim.
Brigadier General Tariq Khalfan Al Ghoul, deputy director of the Criminal Investigation Department, said that the police received information about the woman's body being found at her house.
After the 38-year-old victim was found, the investigators discovered that her money, gold jewellery, a computer and mobile phone had been stolen. The team found evidence linking the incident to the seven; one of them stole the jewellery intending to sell it.
The seven arrested have confessed to the crime and have been referred with the case file to the judicial authorities for legal proceedings.
Brig Al Ghoul praised the police's efforts in resolving the case in a short time.
