Nine youngsters involved in street racing on Al-Qudra Street were arrested by the Dubai Police.
The police spotted a group of young people driving their vehicles recklessly, and violating traffic rules, said Brigadier Abdul Rahim bin Shafi'a, director of Al Barsha police station. They were racing and their cars did not have number plates, he added.
The head of the traffic registration department was immediately alerted. A team consisting of CID, traffic department and department of transport and rescue was set up to identify and arrest the violators. It managed to nab the nine youngsters in as many vehicles, which were seized too. The police charged the motorists with endangering the lives of others and non-compliance of traffic rules.
Brigadier Shafi'a called on drivers to abide by the traffic regulations and guidelines that have been put in place to protect road-users and desist from committing traffic violations for road safety.
