An Asian man was charged by the Sharjah Criminal Court with theft for stealing electronic devices, including laptops, from a shop in Sharjah industrial area.
According to the public prosecution records, the 23-year-old broke the shop door after midnight last November and made away with the items.
During the court hearing and the prosecution interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime and said he had already returned the stolen items to the shop owner.
He said that he had been observing that one of the shops selling electronic gadgets was never properly locked. The accused pointed out that he did a recce and targeted the shop after midnight, while stealing devices that included a set of laptops.
He went with the stolen items to another shop and tried to sell them. This shopkeeper knew the victim and informed him about the accused, who regretted his action and handed over the stolen items to its owner. But the defendant reported the theft to the police.  
The accused told the court that he repented his wrong doing and urged it to show mercy.
The case was adjourned to January 30.
