The Dubai Court of First Instance found the Pakistani man guilty of groping a woman at a Metro station and ordered his deportation after he completed his jail term.
The defendant has been detained since August 30 after the Filipina woman lodged a complaint against him at Al Rafaa police station.
He denied the charge in court.
The complainant, a 35-year-old working as a saleswoman, said she was with her friend taking the Metro to another station in Bur Dubai. "As I was about to step inside, I felt someone standing very close behind me in a way to touch me."
She walked few steps and then the same man groped her. "At the next station, my friend grabbed the defendant when he saw he touched another woman in a similar way," she recounted.
She said that the accused man touched her intentionally as the place was not busy at that time and that he could have stood easily away from her.
The police arrived and arrested the defendant at the station right after she reported the incident.
The complainant's 36-year-old Filipino friend, a cleaner, told the prosecutor that he witnessed the defendant touching her inappropriately. "I confronted him when I saw him repeating the same act with another woman. But he denied and tried to flee the place. I restrained him until the police arrived."
The accused can appeal the ruling within 15 days from the issuance date.
