A worker has been sentenced to three months in jail by the Dubai Court of First Instance for molesting a 14-year-old schoolboy.
Public prosecution records show that the incident took place on June 13 and was reported at Bur Dubai police station.
The defendant, a 32-year-old Asian, has been found guilty of groping the boy at his place.
He is under detention.
The court ordered that he be deported after completing his jail term.
During investigation, the boy recounted how he was in his bedroom watching videos on his laptop when the accused suddenly touched him.
"He entered the room to change the AC temperature and then kept staring at me."
The boy told the investigator that the accused suddenly got close to him and groped him. "I was sitting on my bed and had the laptop on my legs. He groped me once and moved his hand quickly. He went to the door when I screamed and then turned to me with his hand on his mouth, gesturing to me to keep quiet."
The boy's father went to him when he heard his screams. He saw him crying and looking confused because of what happened.
"The man came to my house to do some work in the bathroom. I know about what he did from my son. I heard him screaming and saw him crying and shaking of fear and shock," the 42-year-old father, a European who runs a company, recalled during investigation.
The father went out looking for the worker and found him in the bathroom. He called the police.
The ruling has been appealed.
