Toomaj Salehi risks being hanged after the conviction on the Shariah charge of "corruption on Earth" by a Revolutionary Court
As per court records, the couple had a heated argument following which the wife moved to her family house.
The husband lodged a complaint at the Ras Al Khaimah police accusing his wife, her brother and brother-in-law of stealing his household items, including a washing machine, some chairs, a table, and utensils, without his consent.
The police summoned the wife, who denied the charges, saying: "I did not steal anything. All the stuff I took was from our marital home."
She was referred to RAK public prosecution - where she reiterated her defence.
The washing machine was for cleaning their son's clothes at her family house, she added.
"The said utensils were all bought and provided by my mother," she said, telling the court that she was ready to return the washing machine and other items to her husband.
The court adjourned the case hearing for next week to issue a ruling.
