An Arab woman has appeared at the Fujairah Misdemeanour Court on charges of dishonouring a lawyer on Snapchat.
As per court records, the case unfolded when the defendant created a Snapchat group, introducing herself as a lawyer using the advocacy card of the victim.
The complainant, alerted about the fake lawyer, lodged a complaint with the Fujairah police against her.
The suspect sent the plaintiff several voice notes apologising for her crime and begging her to drop the case she filed against her.
She explained, as per the voice notes heard by the court, that she was forced her to create the group and to pose as the complainant to defame her on social media.
Despite the suspect's confession to her crime, the plaintiff asked the court for adjournment to submit more evidence and submit her argument.
The accused admitted to her crime and said that she used her advocacy card.
"But, I was forced to do so by some (unidentified) people who also forced me to sign some documents that will cost me Dh50,000."
The court ordered adjournment of the case to a later date for issuing its verdict.
