A 22-year-old woman, who resisted arrest and physically assaulted four Dubai policemen, was charged at the Dubai Court of First Instance on Sunday.
The case dates back to April 10 when the Russian woman behaved aggressively with the officers while she was taken into custody and being placed in detention. She is also accused of verbally abusing one of the police officers. The woman has been in detention since then.
A case was registered at Al Barsha police station. The defendant was apprehended by officers from the General Directorate of Traffic.
A policewoman told the prosecutor that she was on duty when the defendant, who was then in the upper floor detention centre, got down to the ground floor and sat down on a chair. "I went to her and told her to go upstairs. She ignored and insulted me and also kicked me in the abdomen. When my colleague came, the defendant pulled us both by our hair. Another police officer then came and took her away from us."
The policewoman told the investigator that she had dropped charges against the defendant.
The other policewoman corroborated her colleague's statement.
Another police officer told the prosecutor that the defendant slapped him on the face and kicked him in the abdomen.
Another cop complained that she verbally abused him and pushed the hand of a corporal.
According to the forensic report, the two policewomen were left with minor bruises due to the assault.
The trial will continue on August 6.
