UAE: Duo face trial in Dubai court for trying to smuggle cannabis

Third accused is also in police custody for similar offence
Two men of Asian origin are facing trial on charges of attempting to smuggle drugs to Dubai, while a third accused has been detained for a similar offence.

Documents available with public prosecution revealed that the incident had occurred on June 24, 2020, when the two Asian compatriots attempted to sell drugs to the third accused.
The investigators unearthed the two men’s bid to smuggle three packs of cannabis to sell them to the third accused. The two suspects were carrying cannabis weighing 82 grams.
The duo was also found to be used drugs, as their urine samples revealed, and both confessed to their crime after they were arrested.
The third accused, too, fell in line and owned up to his crime.
The public prosecution has referred them to the Criminal Court in Dubai for further legal proceedings.
