The Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Civil Court has ordered an Arab man to pay Dh2,500 to another Gulf national as compensation for the damage his minor son caused to the plaintiff’s car.

Court records showed the complainant moved the RAK Civil Court and demanded Dh9,850 be paid as compensation for the damage caused to his vehicle.

“The minor son was illegally driving the car of his father. He recklessly rammed into my car, causing damage,” the complainant alleged.

Earlier, the RAK Traffic Court found the minor son guilty of driving the car of his father.

He was also convicted for damaging the complainant’s car.

The plaintiff told the court that he had to shell out Dh8,800 to repair his car.

“I also had to cough up Dh750 for renting a car for five days at the rate Dh150 daily. I spent another Dh350 to put together the documents and the case file,” the complainant said.

The court upheld the complainant’s plea that he suffered a financial loss.

The court fixed Dh2,050 as compensation after a traffic expert, who was assigned by the court, stated that the repair cost of the damaged car would come to that amount.
