Two Asian expats in Fujairah are standing trial at the Fujairah Misdemeanour Court for reportedly digging a well and selling groundwater without permission.
The duo - a manager at a contracting company and his partner - denied the allegations, calling them "baseless and fabricated".
The first defendant said the father of the second accused was the 'real manager of the company'. "His name is not included in the trade license of the company," he told the court.
The other accused claimed there is no evidence that could support the case.
"This baseless case is because of the legal complaint I filed against an entity three months ago for unfair fines," he said.
The Fujairah Public Prosecution requested the court to hear witnesses. The trial was adjourned to a later date.
