Three young Asian men have been ordered by the Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court to serve six months to five years in jail for possessing and consuming narcotic drugs.
The court, presided over by Chief Judge Sameh Shaker, sentenced one of the druggies to five years in jail, and handed the other two six months' imprisonment.
The trio will be deported after serving their jail terms.
The court records show that the anti-narcotics department of the RAK Police was alerted that three Asian suspects were dealing with drugs in a certain area.
A search team was formed to track down the suspects, who were later arrested red-handed.
Lab tests reports of the trio proved that the three were consuming drugs in their possession.
However, the second and third defendants told the police and prosecution that they did not buy the drugs.
"It was the first suspect who gave us the narcotics to consume," they pointed out.
The first defendant, in his thirties, admitted to the charges, and said he had shared the drugs with the second and third defendants.
The RAK criminal court found the suspects guilty of possessing and consuming narcotics. They were awarded jail terms.
