Trio jailed, fined Dh2,000 each for assaulting man at UAE restaurant

Video footage recorded by the surveillance cameras at the restaurant proved the assault.

The Misdemeanour Court here in Fujairah has sentenced three men to one month in jai for assaulting a compatriot in a restaurant.  
The court also ordered them to pay a fine of Dh2,000 each.
As per court records, the trio was sitting for lunch in a restaurant in Fujairah. The brawl started when the victim appeared at the scene and they had a heated argument, following which the trio assaulted him. 
The restaurant owner called the police which took all the parties involved in the scuffle to the police station for interrogation.
The three defendants were referred to the public prosecution which accused them of beating up the victim.
The case was taken to the Fujairah Misdemeanour Court where they denied assaulting the victim. 
The court turned down their denial and showed them the video footage recorded by the surveillance cameras at the restaurant that proved the assault. 
The eyewitnesses present also affirmed their assault.
