The Ras Al Khaimah Courts Department has responded to an online audio clip shared by a woman complaining about a court ruling which she claims has ruined her life.
On hearing the audio clip, RAK Courts launched an investigation into the woman's complaint to see if it was justified or not.
RAK Courts said in a statement that it had conformed to all requirements of the woman, as per her requests in court, and also acted in accordance with Sharia law, Personal Status law and the appeal process.
RAK Courts have urged other people with similar complaints to go through official channels only so their grievances can be looked into properly.
On Wednesday, it released the following details about the woman's case to ensure complete transparency in its decision-making process.
On March 21, 2013, the complainant had filed a lawsuit against her husband asking for full custody of her children following a breakdown in their relationship.
The following year, due to a terminal illness, the woman travelled abroad frequently for treatment and she therefore waived custody of her children in favour of their father.
On October 23, 2017, the court overturned this decision, giving the woman full custody of her children again, with the father ordered to pay for their accommodation, utilities and official documents.
On May 21, 2020, the court passed a ruling to allow the father time to see his children a few hours a week without them staying with him.
The father subsequently appealed this decision, which is still pending at the Court of Appeal, with the woman requesting Dh88,000 alimony money.
