The accused, African national, denied the charges against her.
The Court of First Instance sentenced the cousin with the same penalty but the Court of Appeal overturned the verdict, Emarat Al Youm reported.
According to the Public Prosecution's investigation, the defendant had asked her mother to send her drugs. Customs inspectors found the drugs hidden in the defendant's cousin's bag at the Dubai International Airport.

A Dubai customs inspector said in her testimony that she searched the cousin's bag and found the drugs hidden in a bag of flour.
When confronted, she reported that the accused's mother asked her to hand over the drugs to her daughter.
The passenger was immediately referred to the General Directorate for Drug Control for investigation.
In her statement to the police, the cousin confirmed that she was unaware of the bag's contents.
