The Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court has sentenced a young Asian man to life in prison after being found guilty of raping a mentally challenged mother and her daughter, also mentally challenged.

The court, presided over by Chief Judge Sameh Shaker, said that the suspect, in his 30s, had illegally made the young woman pregnant out of wedlock.

As per court records, the case unfolded when the relatives of the mentally challenged woman saw signs of pregnancy.

When consulting a specialist gynecologist, she affirmed that she was already pregnant.

The RAK Police, alerted of the crime, initiated investigations and discovered that the suspect had sexually abused both the mother and her daughter.

During police interrogations, the suspect admitted that he used to follow the mother's movements in and out of her house.

He then followed her in and raped her and later her daughter several times, thinking that the victims are mentally disordered and are not aware of sexual abuse.

The suspect was referred to the RAK Public Prosecution, where he admitted to his crime.

The suspect was referred to the RAK Criminal Court where the public prosecution requested for the toughest penalty.

The court found the accused guilty and ordered him to serve a life term.
