An Abu Dhabi resident has been ordered by Abu Dhabi civil court of first instance to pay Dh45,000 as compensation to an Arab woman for damaging her reputation after he stormed into her house.
Official court documents stated that the woman had filed a complaint with authorities accusing the defendant of barging into her house. The woman said the Arab man entered her house without her permission and with no legal explanation, which caused damage to her reputation among her neighbours.
The Abu Dhabi criminal court had earlier fined the Arab man Dh50,000 after he was found guilty of storming into the woman's house. The judge also advised the woman to file a civil lawsuit to claim compensation for the damages.
In her lawsuit, the woman had demanded Dh100,000 as compensation for material and moral damages she suffered.
The Abu Dhabi civil court of first instance ordered the Arab man to pay Dh45,000 to the woman in compensation for the damages.
The man challenged the ruling to the appellate court which upheld the verdict of the first court.
