An Asian man stood trial at the Sharjah Criminal Court for allegedly stealing 22 passports from the safe of the company where he worked. He told his manager that he carried out the theft since he did not pay him his dues, the court heard. The defendant was charged with theft and drinking alcohol.
During the court hearing, he admitted that he had some financial issues with the manager, who refused to pay him. To settle score with him, he stole the passports, he added. The accused said that he entered the company premises late in the evening, opened the safe and took away the passports.
However, he claimed that he didn't steal any money from there. Later, he himself informed the manager that the passports were with him now and asked him to pay him his dues if he wanted them back.
The manger reported the matter to the police and the accused was arrested.
The court adjourned the case to January 9.
