A 43-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment by a criminal court in Ajman for raping a European woman and then abandoning her on the roadside.

According to police records, the victim told the cops that she met the man - a Gulf national - at a nightclub in a hotel in Ajman's Al Jarf area. He showed the woman - who is a puppy lover - a picture of a dog that he owned and offered the canine to her.
The man asked her to accompany him to a nearby house. After entering the house, he took her to one of the rooms, pinned her down and raped her twice, the victim said, adding that she screamed for help, but no one came to her rescue.
The next morning, the man decided to drop her at her friend's apartment in Ajman. The woman gave him her friend's contact details so she could find out his phone number, the victim said.
On the way, when the vehicle slowed down, the woman took advantage of the situation and jumped out of it. The man left her in the street and ran away. A passerby found her in a miserable condition and offered her help when she told him about her plight. The passerby gave her a lift, took her to her friend's house and they lodged a complaint at the police station.
During interrogation by prosecutors, the accused denied the charges and claimed that he had met the victim at a club. He claimed she had agreed to go with him for Dh1,000, but was surprised when she jumped out of the moving vehicle.
The forensic report proved that the victim was raped, with bruises and blows showing in different parts of her body, which confirmed her exposure to violence and use of force on her.
