Man poses as CID officer to abduct, rape woman in UAE

The Ras Al Khaimah criminal court began hearing the case of an Asian man who is charged with abducting and raping a woman in the emirate. He also allegedly threatened to kill her unless she gave in to his advances.
As per court records, the suspect is also facing charges of posing as a CID officer, driving under the influence as well driving without licence.
The accused, who was referred to the RAK criminal court admitted to his crimes. He however denied raping the victim. According to the suspect, he offered her a lift after seeing her walking alone. "I never ever posed as a CID man or threatened to kill her; everything was done with her consent."
He admitted to driving a car without the consent of its owner and under the influence of alcohol.
The victim told the RAK police that defendant abducted her. "He posed as a CID officer and threatened to kill me unless I let him harass me." The suspect, who was intoxicated also urged her to work as a prostitute, but she refused."I immediately went to police and lodged a complaint against him after he let me out of his car," she narrated.
The case was referred to the RAK criminal court and has been adjourned to next week.
