Man pardons acid attacker on parents' request in UAE

Fujairah - Court records show that the case unfolded when the duo had a heated argument.

The Fujairah Misdemeanour Court has dropped a lawsuit filed against an Arab man initially charged with pouring acid on a compatriot after the latter pardoned him following request by his parents.
As per the sheet of indictment, the suspect was also accused of threatening the plaintiff, assaulting him, and using abusive words against him.
Court records show that the case unfolded when the duo had a heated argument, following which the defendant dragged the victim and poured acid on him causing serious injury to his eyes.
"He also held a lighter and threatened to set me on fire, but I managed to run away to the nearest hospital for treatment."
The suspect was arrested and referred to the Fujairah Public prosecution, and then to the court where he denied the charges.
"He (plaintiff) insulted me and called me a robber," the defendant told the court.
He also denied insulting or assaulting the victim.
"I did not pour acid on him. It was just water."
Later, the victim waived off his complaint as his parents asked him to.
"He (defendant) has hurt me so badly, but I forgive and pardon him."
