Man in UAE insults best friend of 30 years; fined Dh10,000

Al Ain - He had helped him out of dire financial straits.

A man was fined Dh10,000 for calling his best friend of 30 years a derogatory term in Al Ain.
The 50-year-old man used a very offensive word in Arabic (zutti) calling into the question his friend's lineage, as per Al Bayan report. 
After being insulted, the victim filed a case against his friend in court.
He was even more offended after he had loaned his friend Dh50,000 to help him out of dire financial straits.  
The court decided against jailing the perpetrator due to his advanced years.
