A man, accused of luring a woman into his villa and then raping her after beating her up, was sentenced to life in prison by a Dubai court on Wednesday.
According to public prosecution records, the 24-year-old Emirati man (employee) locked the Egyptian woman, 23, up inside a bedroom in his villa in the International City where he raped her and made her perform a sex act on him. He also filmed the incident.
The Dubai Court of First Instance found him guilty of the charges of rape, sexual assault and use of technology to invade others' privacy and sentenced him to 25 years behind bars.
The incident took place on June 4.
The complainant, a student, said that when she entered his place, the accused carried her on his shoulder to the upper floor. "He had told me earlier on the phone that he wanted to tell me something. But when in the bedroom, he frankly told me he had nothing to talk about and wanted to have sex with me. But when I refused, he said he would do it by force."
She recounted how he hit her on the head causing her to pass out twice. She woke up to find herself naked on the bed. "He kicked me on the back and legs and pulled my hair. He left me with a black eye after he banged my head against the floor," she said.
Before she left the villa, he told her to let her hair loose so that his other friend would not see her face bruises. He then gave her back her purse and horseback riding equipment she had brought with her.
A police lieutenant said: "The victim told us she would very often go to the defendant's villa where he would throw parties. She said that on the day of incident, he lured her there on the pretext he would reconcile between her and his friend. She confessed she had consensual sexual relation with that friend and he had deflowered her."
The defendant, who was caught under the influence of drugs, claimed he had consensual sex with the woman and that he had to beat her up after he discovered she took an envelope in which he kept Dh50,000.
His friend firmly denied having had sex or touched the complainant. He alleged he had cut it off with her after she stole Dh4,000 from another friend at the latter's place in Al Warqa.
The forensic report confirmed the defendant had sex with the complainant. The three persons were referred to the Court of Misdemeanors on charges, including sex out of marriage.
Minor bites and bruises were detected on the defendant's finger and arm, consistent to the testimony of the complainant. Bruises and scratches were also found on her body.
The defendant's mobile phone was seized and a relevant video clip he had deleted was recovered.
