The Fujairah Criminal Court has sentenced an Arab resident to six months in jail followed by deportation after he was charged with assaulting policemen and resisting arrest.
As per court records, the forensic report showed that the cops received minor injuries while trying to arrest the man.
He was referred to the Fujairah public prosecution and then to the court where he denied the charges.
"I did not know they were policemen when they stopped me."

"They did not identify themselves as policemen so I resisted them fearing that they might hurt or rob me.""It was only when I saw the handcuffs that I realised that they were cops. I then surrendered and did not resist them anymore."
The court turned down the man's claims and ordered him to serve six months in prison and be deported thereafter.ahmedshaaaban@khaleejtimes.com
