Man barges into police station in Dubai, threatens to kill wife

A businessman went to the police station at 6am to check about domestic complaints he had filed against his wife, accusing her of threatening him. However, he landed in trouble after he threatened police officers there.
The Court of First Instance was told how the 36-year-old Arab businessman threatened cops at Al Muraqqabat police station that he would kill his wife if they did not offer him help on those complaints.
The case dates back to April 5.
A police sergeant said that the defendant wanted to inquire about some complaints he had filed against his wife accusing her of threatening him. "He got upset after I told him that he needed to check with the cyber crime department at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation. He said that he had asked several times and was not properly informed."
Even after the sergeant told him to calm down because those were domestic complaints and could be settled, the defendant refused to relax. "He said if I did not help him, he would do something big. When I asked him about that big thing he would do, he said he would kill his wife," the sergeant told the investigator.
The businessman also told the officer that he would hold him responsible for what he would do.
The sergeant informed the officer in-charge and he was told to report the threats in a complaint. "He repeated those threats when I was interrogating him," the sergeant told the investigator.
A corporal and a lieutenant confirmed that the defendant threatened to kill his wife in front of them.
The lieutenant said that the businessman wanted them to issue an arrest warrant against his wife. "We tried to reach out to her to determine how serious their disputes were but in vain. The defendant issued the threats after I told him that there won't be such a warrant because it was a marital dispute."
During interrogation, the defendant admitted he threatened to kill his wife, who was pregnant with their baby, if she tried to leave the UAE.
The trial will continue on August 11.
