A young man was arrested for vandalism after he took revenge on his ex-fiancée by damaging three of her and her family's vehicles.
According to the director of the Bur Dubai Police Station, he had vandalized the three cars by pouring liquid solvent over them.
According to Brigadier Abdullah Khadem bin Suroor, the offender confessed to his crimes and claimed he did it with the help of two of his friends.
"He justified his criminal deeds as revenge to a dispute over some money and gifts that his ex-fiancée refused to return when they had broken the engagement."
The man's anger was apparently triggered when his ex-fiancée told him off, saying, "I owe you nothing!"
The force caught the man after they responded to a report filed by the victim and her family, claiming that the cars had been damaged while parked in the Al Quoz area.
"CCTV footage of the victim's residence showed masked perpetrators on motorcycles pouring chemical liquids over the cars before fleeing the crime scene," Brig. Bin Suroor said.
Dubai Police identified one of the offenders at a public place, as his physique and the distinctive clothing he was wearing at the time of the crime fit the criminal profile they had established.
