Maid in UAE steals Dh1,000 from sponsor's house to buy fiance's gift

Sharjah - Another maid spotted her while leaving the room.

A maid stood trial in Sharjah for stealing Dh1,000 from sponsor's house.
The Asian maid wanted to buy a present for her fiancé on his birthday. She told the court that she was willing to return the money from her next salary, Al Roeya reported. 
The maid used to work as a driver to the family, escorting the children to school. When the family was out, she entered the bedroom of the owner to steal the money. 
She was spotted by another maid, who saw her rushing out of the room. The witness called the owner to inform him.
On returning, the owner found that Dh1,000 were missing from the wardrobe, which had over Dh50,000 in it. 
The case has been postponed to April 8 for hearing.
