Four Arab nationals, who were affiliated with the terrorist Hezbollah group in Lebanon, were sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday by the Abu Dhabi Federal Appeal Court.
The defendants, known as A.N., A.M., F.A.S. and A.T.S., were convicted after being charged by the State Security Prosecution with planning to commit terror crimes and vandalism against key national establishments.
Two other members of the group - H.M.B. and A.N.M.A.S, who are also Arab nationals - were sentenced to 10 years in jail for the same crimes.
All of them will be deported at the end of their jail term, and all their communication devices and computers will be confiscated, the court ruled. The defendants were also ordered to bear all legal fees involved in the case.
The court also fined A.N.M.A.S. Dh3,000 for owning an unlicensed air rifle, and acquitted five other Arab nationals - known as M.H.K., H.A.Z., A.H.N.F., M.A.F. and J.A.M.F.
The State Security Prosecution charged a total of 11 people with forming a Hezbollah-linked terror cell, as well as planning acts of terrorism and vandalism, and possession of explosives and remote detonators.
