A 38-year-old man has been charged with drug smuggling after being caught with 765 tramadol pills in his luggage at the Dubai airport.
Customs inspectors reportedly found the drugs stashed in bags of food.
The Cameroon national, an electrician, has been detained since his arrival at the Dubai International Airport on August 18.
He denied the charge at the Dubai Court of First Instance.
The inspector who was on duty at the airport's arrival hall said other officers in the internal section found the defendant's baggage suspicious, prompting him to conduct a check.
"When I searched his bag, I found a large quantity of tramadol pills carefully hidden in bags of food," he said.
The traveller was then referred to the Anti-Narcotics General Directorate.
He will be sentenced on October 23.
