A 30-year-old Arab man has been sentenced by the Ajman Criminal Court to six years in jail for posing as a police officer to steal jewellery, cash and mobile phone from a woman's house.

During the court hearing, the woman complainant said that she and her daughter were returning from her sister's house and got off from a taxi near their residence at 4.30am. Before they could enter their building, two kandora-clad men stopped them and introduced themselves as CID officers. They asked them to show their Emirates IDs and entered their house under the pretext of searching it and stole the valuables.

Police investigation revealed that the women called the cops after they discovered that the gold jewellery, cash and mobile phone were missing.

The police launched intensified search and investigation and arrested one of the men, while the second impersonator is still on the run.
