A 39-year-old man was charged with forgery at a Dubai court after he faked a law university degree.
The Court of First Instance heard that the unemployed Emirati man falsely claimed he had got the degree through online correspondence with a university in Egypt.
He had a runaway accomplice who helped him fake officials' signatures and stamp the degree with the college seals and then attest it at both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in UAE and Egypt.
He denied in court charges of forgery and use of forged official document.
The case dates back to June 12, last year. A complaint was filed at Al Qusais police station.
An Emirati legal researcher said that the defendant submitted a university degree in June last year. "He claimed it was issued from a college in Egypt with merit."
The accused claimed that he had obtained the 2015 degree through online courses and had it signed by officials and stamped with the seals of the university.
