The Fujairah Court of Appeal has ordered two Asian drivers, convicted of wrongly killing two Emirati nationals in two separate road accidents, to serve a jail term and pay a blood money of Dh200,000.
In the first case, the defendant admitted that he was inattentively driving at a high speed and rammed into a car ahead causing the death of an Emirati man in it. Another man, travelling in the Emirati victim's car, sustained serious injuries.
In the second accident, the accused said that he put the car on reverse and drove fast without paying attention to an Emirati man standing behind the vehicle. The victim died on the spot.
The court found the two suspects guilty of speeding and reckless driving, and sentenced them to jail, while ordering the duo pay blood money to the relatives of the victims.
