The Dubai Public Prosecution has referred two Arabs to the criminal court after they allegedly stole a vehicle, used its body on a different vehicle, and sold the illegally-modified car to another person.

The prosecution documents showed that the case dated back to October 2017, when the duo, who are unemployed Emirati nationals, stole a vehicle from the complainant's house in Fujairah. They took it then to a workshop, removed its body, and fixed it on a different vehicle of the same model - belonging to one of the accused - that had a different chassis number.

After modifying the vehicle, the accused sold it to another person for Dh60,000 and registered it in the name of the buyer at Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

After carrying out an investigation, it was revealed that the stolen vehicle's body had a different colour than the sold car.

The Ministry of Interior issued a report, in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Police, that said that vehicle was registered in its database with a particular colour, while it was registered at the RTA with a different colour, which proved that the accused had illegally modified the vehicle using the body of the stolen car.

The owner of the workshop admitted that he made the changes to the vehicle, even though the accused never provided him any documents to prove he owned both the vehicles.
