Two men stood trial in the Fujairah criminal court for attempting to steal sheep and chicken from a farm owned by an Emirati national.
As per court records, the case unfolded when the plaintiff was shocked to see the two suspects - both Gulf citizens - trespassing his farm without permission.
The Emirati immediately alerted the Fujairah Police about the duo. The CID sleuths appeared at the reported site, but by then the two had fled.
A security police patrol hunted down the suspects, who resisted arrest and tried to escape in their car.
The two defendants, as per the testimony of the prosecution security witness, attempted to ram their vehicle into the police patrol.
They were arrested and referred to the Fujairah public prosecution.
As per the sheet of indictment, the duo was charged with trespassing others' properties without consent, attempted theft, resisting arrest, and trying to hit a police patrol.
The first suspect denied the charges, while the second admitted to have been standing near the said farm of the Emirati national. He added that he did try to force open the door of the farm and trespass the plaintiff's property.
The court ordered adjournment of the case to June 26 to issue its ruling.
