A couple is standing trial for allegedly threatening to kill the husband's employer and his family.
The Court of First Instance heard how the 36-year-old Asian construction worker issued criminal threats against his former employer and family demanding to drop the absconding case levelled against him.
The worker's wife, who is at large, is accused of insulting the complainant in WhatsApp messages.

The case dates back to February and a complaint was lodged at Rashidiya police station. The husband has been detained.
The complainant, a 40-year-old Asian businessman, told the prosecutor that about six months prior to the complaint he had filed an absconding report against the defendant as the latter did not come to work and was working for other people.
"After that, I kept receiving phone calls, the last of which was in February. The accused was threatening to kill me and my family unless I drop the charges against him."
The businessman added that the defendant's wife also threatened to kill him in messages she sent to him on WhatsApp. He said the wife used inappropriate language to threaten him.
Copies of the messages were enclosed to the case file as part of the public prosecution evidence.
The court will hand down a verdict on July 29.
