A 30-year-old woman, who allegedly tried to kill a masseuse by stabbing her twice with a knife, was charged with attempted murder at a Dubai court on Monday (April 8).
The Court of First Instance heard that the Nepali woman planned the crime in advance. She lured the victim to meet her and then pounced on her twice. She inflicted cuts on the victim, who tried hard to protect herself before she was shifted to hospital.
She has been charged with premeditated attempted murder.
The incident took place on December 20, 2018 and was reported to Bur Dubai police station.
The victim, a 33-year-old Indian masseuse, said that at 11pm on December 18, last year, she received a phone call from the defendant. "She introduced herself as the girlfriend of my friend and requested me to stop seeing or talking to him. She accused me of being the reason he changed towards her. She asked me to see her to help mend things."
The following day, the complainant went with the mutual friend and met her at 8pm at the Dubai Water Canal. The defendant and the man argued for a while. The accused then claimed she had no money and needed help. The couple gave her Dh90 and she left in a cab.
The next day, the accused insisted on meeting the victim at 6:30pm outside her workplace at a hotel. However, the victim was surprised by the defendant whipping a knife out of her purse and trying to stab her in the abdomen. "I got hit in the left arm as I tried to protect myself. I injured my fingers also as I tried to fend off another stabbing in the abdomen," the complainant told the prosecutor.
Passersby stepped in and took the defendant away from her. She was shortly taken to hospital.
A forensic report showed the victim was left with a left arm injury.
The defendant admitted to the murder bid charge during the public prosecution investigation. She also confessed to using the knife to try to kill herself.
The trial has been adjourned to April 15.
