The Fujairah Criminal Court has ordered an Arab youth to serve seven years in jail and pay a fine of Dh20,000 for abusing drugs. The suspect was found guilty of possessing and doing drugs.
The defendant also violated the mandatory regular lab test enforced to ensure he stopped consuming drugs, according to the sheet of indictment of the Fujairah Public Prosecution.
In its ruling, the court said a jail term of one year shall be slapped in case a released inmate failed to appear on time and give the regular urine sample as per the law.
"The jail term shall be doubled for refusing to give the mandatory regular urine sample," the court underlined.
The suspect has been found guilty of several crimes, including possessing and abusing drugs, and refusing to give the urine sample requested for lab test, the court pointed out.
"To refuse to give a urine sample for lab test means that the defendant did abuse narcotic drugs, even if he denied doing so."
