Two drug smugglers who were sentenced to life in prison had lost their appeal at the Federal Supreme Court in Abu Dhabi. The Asian men were caught with crystal meth, with one of them swallowing 100 meth capsules to get the drugs into the country.
The top court upheld the earlier rulings of lower courts, which handed the life term.
The duo was caught after one of them managed to get past the border carrying the drugs and was handing them to the second defendant, court records showed. When the police nabbed the men, the first accused had given them 12 capsules, but several others were in his stomach.
He was then taken to a hospital, where doctors were able to pull out around a hundred drug capsules.
The first defendant said someone from his home country promised him cash and gave him the drugs to deliver them to the second accused, who is a UAE resident.
Both the Criminal Court of First Instance and the Appeals Court found them guilty of dealing and smuggling drugs.
