A driving instructor was given a six-month jail term for trying to rape a married woman inside her bedroom in Dubai.
He will be deported after serving his jail term.
Public prosecution records show that on July 27, the 46-year-old Indian driving instructor was off-duty when he sneaked his way inside the villa of a couple. He had just lured the husband, who was a driving licence applicant, outside the house, then tried to force himself on his wife.
He denied charges of attempted rape and trespass at the Court of First Instance.
The case was registered at Bur Dubai police station.
The complainant, a 32-year-old Indian nurse, said that at 3.30 am, she felt someone getting on top of her, touching her and hugging her. "I thought at first it was my husband. However, I realised then that it was another man. He claimed my husband let him inside my bedroom. I pushed him away from me."
The man kept trying to sexually assault her and then gagged her. "He would not let me drink water. I told him to give me some space and I would do whatever he wanted. However, when I began to scream he left the room. When my husband came he tried several times to call him on his mobile phone but in vain," she recounted to the prosecution investigators.
She said that the accused had entered her room without his shirt.
The victim's husband, a 31-year-old Indian electrician, said the defendant was his driving instructor. "He called me that night and gave me his car to drive it around my villa for training. He wanted me to drive alone before the test. But as I insisted, he sat beside me for a short distance then alleged he wanted to go for prayer."
After a few minutes, as he was still waiting for the instructor to return, the husband received a call from his wife telling him that the instructor tried to rape her. "I rushed to her and learned he had sneaked into our bedroom and tried to have sex with her by force. I called the police after he ignored my phone calls."
The defendant admitted during investigation he had entered the couple's room, claiming he only tried to wake the wife up. He also claimed he tried to call the husband but the latter did not take his calls.
