A 57-year-old man, who sexually assaulted a three-year-old boy, leaving him traumatised, was sentenced to five years in prison on Wednesday. The Dubai Court of First Instance also ordered the Asian driver's deportation at the end of the prison term.
A complaint was filed on July 16 at Al Barsha police station. A police officer, who interrogated the child's mother, said: "She came to file a complaint against the defendant. She was very upset and on the verge of crying. She said that the accused was her maid's husband and used to drop some children to the nursery. She told him to drop her son (the victim) too."
About a week before the complaint, the mother heard neighbours say the defendant had molested their children. "She was later shocked to hear her son recounting innocently what the accused had done to him on the couch in the living room. She immediately complained against the defendant at the police station," the police officer said.
The victim's mother told the investigator that her son told her he wanted to die and that he hated the house and the couch in the living room. "He also said that he does not like the defendant."
The defendant has a criminal record.
The ruling may be appealed.
