A bakery in UAE has been shut down for flouting hygiene rules after a baker was caught on camera touching a piece of bread after licking his hand.
The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) shut down the bakery on Monday after one of its workers was caught on video licking his finger and touching the bread as he prepared the bread.
The Sharjah Municipality had also confiscated all the products from the bakery after the authority got the video. The municipality also suspended the bread baking process at the eatery.
A top official at the civic body said a team of inspectors was sent to the bakery in a residential area to carry out the seizure. The municipality has informed the Sharjah Economic Development Department, which is the only body in the emirate authorised to issue shutdown orders.
