Duo rapes 2 women in Dubai after luring them to fake party

Dubai - One of the victims, a 29-year-old jobless, said she had befriended one of the defendants online.

Two men, both working as barbers, have been charged at the Dubai Court of First Instance for allegedly raping and sexually assaulting two Filipinas.
Public prosecution records show that the incident took place on June 19 when one of the men, a 37-year-old Egyptian, called one of the victims and offered to pick her up from Jumeriah Beach and drop her at her place in Al Rigga. He brought his 35-year-old Syrian friend, also a barber, with him. On the way, they talked the two women into accompanying them to their flat where "there was a party". However, the victims were raped and sexually assaulted there. They complained at Al Barsha police station.
One of the victims, a 29-year-old jobless, said she had befriended one of the defendants online. "He picked us up from Jumeirah Beach after 4am. We were later made to believe there was a party at his flat. Once there, we found there was no one but us."
She recalled that the defendant raped her three times in a bedroom and forced her to perform a sex act on him. He also raped her friend after his accomplice was done with her. The two victims reported the incident right after leaving the flat.
During prosecution investigation, she said that the Egyptian defendant offered her some money later but she turned it down. The other man also tried to have sex with her in vain.
The other victim, a 36-year-old jobless, gave a similar statement to the investigators. She said she was raped twice and made to perform a sex act. She refused to take Dh500 from the main defendant after the rape, the woman added.
A police sergeant said the two women were waiting at the building reception when they reached the crime scene. "One of them recounted how she had met one of the accused men online and how he offered to drop them at their places. She told us the two men raped them after lying to them about a party."
The police officers apprehended the two defendants as they walked out of the lift.
"The two accused claimed the two women went willingly with them and had sex with them. We took them into custody," the sergeant said.
During police interrogation, the two victims said that the two men pulled them forcibly inside the bedroom and in the living room.
The duo, who have been detained, alleged they had an agreement with the women to have sex at the flat for money.
The trial will continue on October 6.
