Nine people have been ordered by the Fujairah Criminal Court to serve six months to three years in jail on charges of prostitution and human trafficking.
As per court records, the case unfolded when the Fujairah Police were alerted about a gang of Asian and African residents involved in flesh trade.
A special team was immediately formed to verify the tip-off, collect all evidence needed, track down the suspects, and arrest them red-handed.
Investigations showed that the accused, including men and women of different ages, had turned an apartment here in the city into a brothel where they forced some women into prostitution. Several clients frequented the apartment.
The police stormed the hideout and nabbed the nine suspects in the act.
The accused were referred to the Fujairah Public Prosecution which charged them with prostitution and flesh trade.
The suspects were brought to the Fujairah Criminal Court, which found them guilty and sentenced them to different jail terms ranging from six months to three years, and deportation thereafter.
