Stock market opened with modest gain on Wednesday marking third consecutive session in the upward gain
A 56-year-old Asian visitor has stood trial in Dubai for reportedly trying to smuggle drugs into the country. She was found to be in possession of crystal meth, which was stashed in shampoo bottles hidden in her luggage.
When the woman arrived at a Dubai airport in November 2020, a customs inspector found her luggage suspicious, according to records of the public prosecution. The officer asked the woman if she had anything that she wanted to talk about, yet she denied having any concern.
Airport authorities decided to check her luggage, where they found three shampoo bottles that contained 22 small packets. Inside the packets was a white powdered substance that looked like methamphetamine. A laboratory report confirmed that it was meth and weighed a total of 746g.
The authorities seized the drugs and referred the woman to the public prosecution, which submitted her case to the criminal court, accusing her of attempting to smuggle illegal drugs.
