Three women, who assaulted and robbed an Iraqi trader of Dh60,000 in cash after luring him to a flat for sex, have each been sentenced to three months in jail by a Dubai court on Wednesday.
He had been initially charged with inciting prostitution. The three women, all Africans, will be deported after completing their jail terms.
The complainant told the prosecutor that he came to Dubai early in April on a visit visa. "I met a woman online. She claimed she was a Swedish student. We then spoke on the phone. She told me that she wanted to meet me in Dubai as I stayed in Sharjah."
On April 17, the trader had to go to Dubai to collect an amount of Dh155,000 wired from Iraq. "I was about to go back to Sharjah when she called me, inviting me to a flat in Al Quoz."
As soon as he got inside the place, five African women grabbed and pulled him inside a room. "They knocked me down and began slapping me. They told me to give them all the cash I got," he said during the investigation.
He took Dh1,600 out of his pocket but they wanted more. "They searched me and found Dh55,975 and were very happy with it. I made them believe I was short of breath so that they would let me leave. I also told them to give me some money to take a cab. I did not want them to know I was carrying another Dh100,000," he said.
The women gave him Dh600 and let him go.
He went to a security guard and waited outside the flat until the police arrived. "Two suspects had already left while two others were caught while trying to jump out of a window," the trader said.
A policeman said the robbery incident was reported at 2:30pm. "We arrested three female suspects as they were trying to flee the area. The man said they were among the other women who assaulted and robbed him of cash."
