A 17-year-old Emirati student, who allegedly raped a 13-year-old Pakistani girl, has been charged at the Dubai Court of First Instance.
The complainant was involved in an older case that was filed against an 18-year-old Emirati student, who was also accused of sexually assaulting her. The young man was already brought to trial.
When the girl approached the authorities, she told the investigator that both defendants had sex with her.
A complaint was lodged on January 10 this year at Al Barsha police station.
A police corporal said that when the 17-year-old accused was brought to him for interrogation on a sexual assault charge, "he confessed that he had consensual sex with the girl, and he claimed it happened only once".
DNA traces taken from the 13-year-old girl did not match any of the two defendants and were found to belong to an unknown male, according to the forensic report.
The 17-year-old student will be sentenced on May 21.
