As many as 13 establishments and a warehouse have been shut down for printing advertisement cards and stickers, which mostly promote massage services, and were to be distributed in residential areas.
The crackdown was carried out by the Sharjah Police in coordination with Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD).
Around 500,000 printed advertisement cards and stickers, tools and 250 mobile phone sims were seized during the operation, while 25 illegal residents involved in the printing activities nabbed.
Brig Ibrahim Al Ajill, director of CID at Sharjah Police, said that the crackdown was launched to curb the nuisance of cards and stickers which are left at the doorsteps of houses, apartments and villas or are placed on windows of parked cars or thrown on the streets to promote massage services and other illegal activities.
The authorities slapped hefty fines on the establishments and disconnected all the 250 phone numbers, which were printed on the cards and stickers.
The police said it will be in continuous coordination with SEDD to combat such practices and carry out crackdowns targeting illegal establishments.
